Hello! How are you doing? My name is Miriam and I was born in Spain, where I currently live, although I've also lived in Tokyo. I'm passionate about many different things, including History (I am currently preparing to start a PhD on History), photography, food, literature, movies, travelling, etc. I'm also a very curious person who finds fascinating a wide variety of topics and who is always willing to learn new things.Ik als leerkracht
When I was a degree student I used to volunteer as a tutor for incoming foreign students, and I would help them learn the language and get to know the Spanish culture. I found it a very satisfyig thing to do and I was passionate about it. Also, I got used to teaching people with very different levels of language skills and I was able to intuitively adapt the way I talked to each one's specific needs. I like to do that with my students too, but always giving them a little extra push and making sure they keep challenging themselves to get better.Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
When it comes to conversation classes, I let the student decide how much freedom they want to have. If they wished to be able to prepare the class beforehand, I will send them a topic and a list of interesting questions to talk about. But every student is different and I am always open to their suggestions! At the end of each class, the student reviews with me their mistakes and gets a list of new vocabulary used during the lesson.
But if it is grammar what you are looking for, I follow a simple method: we have a small explanation of a grammar topic, we practise it through exercises, and we will always have time left to introduce some conversation practice!Mijn lesmateriaal

Spanish teacherAt Red Cross, I teach Spanish to refugees. It is a very interesting and challenging job, as my students come from very different countries and backgrounds, so I need to be creative sometimes. But it is also a very rewarding experience.

Community tutorBefore becoming a professional teacher here, I worked for a few years as a Community tutor. This allowed me to further develop my teaching skills and made me realise that I actually love this job.

Miriam is a great teacher - very friendly, easy to talk with and organised. Her Spanish is easy to understand and the best is she keeps notes of the mistakes made during the conversation so they can be revised at the end of the class.

Miriam es quizás mi tutora favorita de Italki. La conversación siempre fluya con ella. Aprendo nuevas palabras con cada clase. Y al final de la clase me siento motivado. Si buscas más práctica en un ambiente relajado pero en el que se aprende mucho, las clases con Miriam son lo que necesitas.
