Jem's lesson tries to get me to engage by correcting my grammar so that I can answer fluently with my 'yes' and 'no.' He also got me to speak about my work to try and guage my Cebuano. Very natural teacher.

Sa akong klase w/ Jem nga 45 mins, I covered the verbs, to go, to come and to head towards. Very useful language verbs to use everyday and something I wasn't aware of! Nindot nga tapik and will go ahead and study this as well. Jem is great in providing cultural context as well as testing me if I know certain vocabs. Salamat sa klase Jem! 🎉

Sa 45 mins nga klase, we covered usa ka lalom nga tapik mahitungod sa kamatayon. Daghan akong gi-learn nga mga words nga archaic, ug mga verse sa Bibol nga gisulti ni Jem so I can hear how a native would read it. Salamat sa klase! 🙏🏼

In my 45 mins with Jem, he tested me on my translation skills using vocabulary we have learned to this point. We also learned about adding -a and -i to the end of verbs to show if it is a command or request. Jem's value is in his explanation and examples. I really learn a lot in his classes. We covered some new material and very naturally, Jem tested and corrected me on my knowledge of verb conjugations, for the past, present and future forms. He also advised me to try and expose myself to a natural bisaya environment to hear how verbs are conjugated in the wild. Salamat sa klase! 🙏🏼
