Hi, I'm Jo. I'm born and raised in Shanghai and I'm a professional writer who has over 10 years experience for writing. I began to write when I was 16 and got several prizes in competition from China Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong. I also write stories for magazines, include fiction, non-fiction and film reviews. I have a genuine enthusiasm in literature and arts.
Chinese is pictogram and abstract language compare with English. I will teach you how to remember it in a native's way, how we learn our mother togue when we were young,and how to understand the structure and regularity of this language. My style is sincere, relex, comfortable.
Chinese is pictogram and abstract language compare with English. There have lots of connection between words. One word can extend to various short phrase.
The radicals are very important. I will focus on that and give you the context which you can easily image as well, then you can held it in mind. Another nice way is your mistake can be corrected during our conversation. Instead of cramming I perfer to teach you a thinking way of Chinese.
I will also adjust my teaching style depens on what level the student are and lead my student talk more and widely which can let you learn it in a better way.Mijn lesmateriaal

Class with Jo is great since she continually suggests great ways to express complex feelings or situations, which is one area I want to improve my Chinese vocabulary in. I’d really recommend her class to anyone at an intermediate or advanced level who wants to continue to pick up great ‘native speaking’ ways to describe complex emotions

Josephine is an excellent teacher, and her lesson was challenging, interesting and fun. During the lesson she introduced me to new vocabulary, helped me with proper enunciation of words, and expressed her points of view on many topics. I highly recommend her to anyone in search of a kind and knowledgeable teacher to help them improve their language skills. 谢谢老师！

The content of Jo's classes are very valuable, even if your Chinese is already at an intermediate or higher level. She always suggests very targeted words or expressions to succinctly express your thoughts. She points out mistakes and suggests improvements. The conversation flows smoothly and is always about topics appropriate to my Chinese level but enough to push me to the next level. As such I highly recommend taking classes with her.
