I help them improve from beginner and intermediate to advanced, so they are more confident, articulate and able to express themselves freely.
2019 - 2021
TeacherI taught schoolchildren, aged 6-18, English, Malay and Mandarin Chinese using the Malaysian and International syllabus (e.g. IGCSE). My students included both native and second language students. I helped them grasp language concepts, learn vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening and speaking, so that they could both pass their exams with flying colours (= get good grades) and be able to converse freely in the target language.

Overige - High School Leavers ExaminationI passed English, Malay and Mandarin Chinese native level exams with flying colours. I was top of the class and form in English for the majority of my time during my upper secondary years. I was also part of the school debate team.
Other topics include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and History.
2015 - 2016
Bachelor’s - Year 1 Biology, Chemistry, Physics, MathematicsI studied Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at a Pre-University level or Year 1 of the American college system. It is also Year 1 of medical school in some countries. The course follows the Cambridge syllabus and the final exam is marked by CIE in the UK.
2016 - 2018
Bachelor’s - Law👩🎓👩⚖️ I read Law in the UK. Some of the areas of law I studied include Common Law Reasoning, Company Law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Equity & Trusts, EU Law, Evidence Law, IP Law, Jurisprudence, Land Law, Law of Tort, Legal Systems & Methods, Public Law, Animal Law, Family Law, International Law and Internet Law & Regulation. All academic classes were conducted in English.
We had some modules in Malay too.
I also took German classes for a year, passing the A2+ level exam.
2022 - 2023
Bachelor’s - Advanced TESOL (English teaching certificate)150-Hour Advanced Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate.
Modules include pedagogy, classroom management, how to teach, continuous improvement and online teaching.
We learned how to teach English grammar, English vocabulary, English pronunciation, reading skills, listening skills, writing skills, speaking skills, and how to create learning aims and lesson plans.

I highly recommend booking a class with Teacher Kai! I think it’s important to genuinely enjoy what you learn in order to progress and to also have a safe space to experiment and try out new vocabulary or grammar structures. Teacher Kai gives me this opportunity through what she has aptly named our “restful learning” sessions.
