We will go over where you stand, and what is your main goal for learning the language.
We will start speaking right away, just to loosen up a bit and so I can hear your pronunciation :) During this session it's helpful to mention whether you speak or have studied other languages, just for me to get a grasp on the kind of grammar you have encountered.


If there is something that you find challenging I would love to hear it, and before we end the session I will suggest a plan based on your level, interest, goal and availability.

--  Single Lesson  --
In this lesson you will learn how to introduce yourself, and if you already got that covered you will simply practice it quickly, before continuing to the questions-part.
You will learn the difference between "hvað, hvar, hvenær, hver, hverjir, hverjar, hvernig", learn the most common questions and responses, and a couple of regular comments (ice-breakers and ways to get the other person to start talking).

Class 1: Greetings, introductions and questions
Class 2: Descriptions, and review on questions
Class 3: Phonetics and pronunciation OR Grammatical tricks
Class 4: In-class exercise including previous concepts OR Reviewing assignment previously given
Class 5: Content of the last class will be tailored to each student. And recommendation for next steps in the student's learning journey will be given.

Learn Icelandic with Alda

Single or a package of guided conversation practice.
Safe space for you to practice what you know, get more confident in your speaking and listening skills. Here the focus will be on flow, rather than corrections.

Relax and gather your words at your own speed, free from interruptions.
If you decide to take a package, we will end each lesson by deciding on a topic or theme for the next conversation practice.
For a single practice, you can choose between having a general conversation, or prompt a specific topic yourself.

Conversation Practice - Subject Oriented

Chance for you to ask general questions regarding the language, or the way of communicating with Icelanders. I can offer help with revising WITH you the material you have written in Icelandic already, or help you understand shorter text you find a bit confusing.

The lesson does therefore not have a structured agenda. I will offer summary of what we discussed after the lesson, but I will not rewrite a text nor is this meant as official translation aid of documents.
