Hello, guys! This is Kate. Hope you are doing just fine. And today we’re going back to conditional sentences. This is part two and if you haven’t listened to the first podcast, it’s highly recommended to go back and take a look at them.

Alright, today’s podcast is about the 1st and 2nd conditionals. 
First of all let’s revise the first conditional. As you remember, we use it to talk about the future. Here are some examples for you to refresh your memory:

-If you study hard, you’ll enter the university.
-She will be happy if she earns outrageous sums of money.

I hope you remembered this one guys, because we’re going straight to the second conditional.

Why do we need it? To talk about present events which are almost impossible.

Here are a couple of examples:

If I could go anywhere, I would go to South Korea.
If I had more money, I would travel a lot.
I would drop out of my university if my parents didn’t pay for it.


Let’s take a look at the structure:

If+Past Simple, S+would+V1.
And vice versa
S+would+V1 | If+Past Simple(if the sentence is reversed, we don’t use a comma!)

こんにちは！Atsushiです。
今日の北海道の天気は曇り。
気温は22℃。

同じような気温が続いています。
本州、東京や大阪などでは、30℃以上のむし暑い天気が続いているようです。

日本では、本当にむし暑く、よく汗をかきますが、北海道では、汗はあまりかきません。過ごしやすい天気です。

ですが、もうすぐ夏が終わり、きびしい冬へ向かっていきます。私ははじめての冬をむかえるので、すこし緊張しています。

今日は都道府県シリーズ6つ目の宮城県です。

広さ、面積は、7,200km2
人口は、228万人ですね、

県の木は、ケヤキ
県の花は、ミヤギノハギ

特産品は牛タンなどたくさんありますが、個人的には、
はらこ飯と、ずんだ餅が気になります。

はらこ飯とは、煮上げたサケ(salmon)といくらを、サケの煮汁で炊いた米の上にのせて食べるようです。おいしそうですね！

ずんだ餅は、宮城県を代表する郷土料理で、枝豆をたたいてつぶし、砂糖をまぜ、餅にかぶせたものです。私も食べたことがありますが、枝豆の緑色がきれいで、甘くておいしかったです。

次は観光地です。私が紹介する3つは、
松島
御釜
白石川の千本桜
です。

松島は、日本三景の1つ、といわれているぐらい有名です。
260ほどの島々があるその一帯を松島、といいます。
また、この島々は昔は陸地の山だったそうです。
今は海面が上昇して、上だけが島のように残っているようです。

御釜は、1,000年以上前の噴火の時にできたくぼちです。そこに雨や地下水、雪解け水が溜まって湖ができました。天気や気候で湖の色が変わるので、五色沼(ごしきぬま)というようです。

最後は白石川堤一目千本桜(しろいしがわづつみひとめせんぼんざくら)です。読み方がいまいちはっきりしないのですが、この写真を見つけた時にめっちゃ見にいきたい！と思いました。8キロぐらいの川沿いに桜が1,000以上並んでいるようです。桜が満開の時は、さぞ綺麗でしょうね！

はい、ということで、今回は宮城県について話しました。
2011年の震災の時にも大きな被害があった場所なので、今日話したこと以外にも、いろんな場所があります。
