Clockwise and counterclockwise are used to describe circular movements. It's not really the kind of thing that usually comes up in daily conversation unless you're a plumber, mechanic, carpenter, etc. And I've never heard anyone use anti-clockwise. Turn the knob clockwise to open the door. You tighten most screws and bolts with a clockwise movement. In some parts of the US, there are traffic circles where cars travel in a counterclockwise direction. In the UK, they're called roundabouts and the traffic moves around them in a clockwise direction.
