John, he did indeed go into some details. There's a separate chapter, albeit a relatively small one, for it in this 777 plus page book. The "Account of the Sultan of Yemen" starts from page 258. If you've been reading the book from the beginning, then that means you finished reading a third of the book. Truly impressive!

Yes, I would say your gut is pretty spot on, lol. It's funny that you mentioned "reference", because I thought about this word as well as a translation of ذكر, however reference, like you pointed out, is used more for when a person is perhaps making a very brief mention of something, so that's why I chose "account" instead, as the author did go into some detail about his experience, according to my understanding anyways.

"account" is indeed an accurate translation of ٌذِكْر. Another good translation would be "reference". To me, when I hear "reference", I think of a quick, unemphasized or maybe subtle mentioning of a person, a place or an event, whereas "account" suggests talking or writing somewhat at length about something. Is my "gut feeling" on spot?

In both cases, though, ذِكْرٌ would be the equivalent word.
