WOMEN STUDIES This research aims to present a biographical profile of the writer Waldina Dávila Ponce de León and to define the aesthetic features in his narrative production, also to place it in the Colombian literary scene. The following report is structured in four chapters. First, Waldina Davila´ biography, in which one can find relevant aspects of his live, the socio-historical and cultural context in which he lived and conceived his work. Second, one can find documents evidencing the existence of Dávila as a writer of the nineteenth century. The third chapter explores the literary production, beginning with poetry, then drama; and finally narrative, including a story and three novels; in the fourth chapter, narrative is addressed to define constant themes, aesthetic features, influences and symbolic representations. This work is part of a macro project on the work of Waldina Dávila (Masters in Literature at the Technological University of Pereira), led by Professor Carlos Alberto Castrillón, with which it hopes to contribute to the knowledge of the author from three main areas: aesthetic resources, poetry and the study of the female character.
