My parents don’t like foreign travel, in fact, they have only been abroad once. My mother is very afraid of flying.
On the contrary, I love travel, I always saving money to travel and I’d love to travel around the world before I die.
I started by making trips around the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal). I used to live in Madrid so my boyfriend and I decided to go to a different city each weekend. We have been in Segovia, Toledo, Ávila, Galicia, Cantabria, Asturias, Girona, Denia, Extremadura, Jaén and we even went to Oporto once, which is about 6 hours away by car, and we spend a whole week enjoying this magnificent city.
In 2020, as everybody knows, the covid pandemic forced us to stay at home. In Madrid the situation was pretty tough, hundred’s of people dying everyday, Hospitals did not have enough ventilators for the entire population, I was out of work, and I felt that Madrid was no longer my place.
When the lockdown ended we moved out from Madrid to Canary Island, where I was born. I’m very happy to live here now, but living on an island has its drawbacks: we cannot improvise trips every weekend because we would have to take a plane to do it.
Instead, we plan longer travels to other countries once or twice a year. The rest of the year we stay in Lanzarote enjoying the good weather and the good company. If there is one thing I am sure of, it is that I am a very lucky person.
