In my humble opinion, Korean language is easier than other languages - basically because you don't have to memorize chinese characters, learning korean alphabet will be enough to start reading Korean texts (though if you do learn chinese characters it may help you later to memorize words of Chinese origin and be considered as somewhat literate person in Korea).. Chinese is difficult not only because of vast number of characters you must learn and memorize, but also because of pronunciation tones Japanese is somewhere in the middle between Chinese and Korean (should learn about 2000 chinese characters to be able to read common texts), but I believe that there are more study materials on Japanese language (both in Internet and printed books) than on Chinese and Korean both After all, it depends on what language attracts you more.. If there is a strong motivation to learn then there is no difficult language ;)

I am a student of both Korean and Japanese. The grammar of both of these languages is pretty much identical. The Korean alphabet is much easier than Japanese, but the various levels of speach and address in Korean make it more challenging. So, in my opinion this makes Korean slightly more difficult than Japanese. The challenge with Japanese is the alphabet(s) and Kanji. Chinese is challenging because of the tonal intonations in the pronunciation as well as the characters that are needed to learn the written language. As far as grammar, Chinese is easier for Western speakers.

For me, Korean is definitely the easiest language. It only takes you about a day to memorize the Korean alphabet (hangul) However, a lot of Korean is based on Chinese characters, so you could build a slight knowledge from Korean on Chinese :DD ~ I was an exchange student in china for 2 weeks, and could hardly pick up any Chinese because the tone of your voice has to change and there is so many unfamiliar sounds you have to make.~ Don't get me wrong, I love the Chinese language & I want to go back to China :DD ~ I've been learning Korean for just over 1 year now & I am enjoying it so much XDD ~ Japanese is quite hard too because there are 2 different alphabets & on top of that, you have to remember quite a large amount of Chinese looking symbols called 'Kanji' 0.0 so many things to remember :DD ~ I'm 15 years old and still at school, so learning Korean was definitely the less time consuming language for me & I don't regret learning it XDD ~ But, if you're passionate about another language, then go for that language as you learn LOADS more if you're passionate about a language (': I hope this helps! & Good luck! ♥

I am a Korean speaker and I have no idea of Chinese and Japanese - of course I know some of Chinese and Japanese, we are all neighbours - actually in Korea and Japan, we all use Chinese letters(Hanja as we call) and I know may thousand of Chinese letters-even I learned them at school. They should be all hard to you, so try one and find what you really like.

In my opinion, the "easiest" of the three is Korean followed by Chinese and then Japanese. I think the one that you should choose depends on your career choice. Which of the three languages will help you the most in your career? Furthermore, do you want to only speak it? Do you want to read and write it, too?
