articles > are the vowels of alphabet >a e i o u . we use "an" instead of a in front of words that begin with a vowel. (ex. an egg} we use "the" when we are talking about a particular thing (.ex. the snake ) we use " a or an " when talking about a particular thing.(ex. a fruit , an orange ) an olive , a pear . an arrow , a helicopter Prepositions are words we use to show the relationship of a noun or pronoun to another word in the sentence. it can also be called place words because they often tell us the position of things.examples: The puppy is"on" the chair. The teacher is "beside"the chair I shared my lesson "between " mary and myself. I shared the discussions "among " all italki people.

prepositions show the relationship a noun has with another word. http://rwc.hunter.cuny.edu/reading-writing/on-line/prep-def.html that site is great and has tons of examples. here's a list: prepositions: http://www.englishclub.com/grammar/prepositions-list.htm articles: the, a, an, one, some, few articles tell which one of something i hit the ball. which ball? the one ball. i hit a ball. which ball? any ball.

Well, they're both groups of tiny words which you really need to use. Articles (a, an, the) mark nouns. They are part of a larger group called determiners (which include possessives, eg. my, her, their and so on) Prepositions relate things to the subject. You need them when you're saying when or where something is (in, on, at, and so on), as well as adding an object when you have an intransitive verb.
