Give a man a fish There is a famous saying in English, which is: "If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day. If you teach him to fish you feed him for a lifetime." The meaning focuses on how to educate people. If we want to help people we should not do things for them. We should teach people how to do things. Is there a 歇后语 or a 成语 or a saying in Chinese which has a similar meaning?

There is 成语。 It's better to teach a man fishing than to give him fish.
