To patronize someone is talk to someone in a way as if he is not intelligent enough to know (about something) , and that you know better/ or to talk kindly to someone just to show you are better . > My mum always patronize me with her advice as if I don't know them already ( She talk to you as if you are not intelligent to know) > Don't worry , you will pass it next time . The person saying that could be condescending in speech because his compliment is not real .It is to tell you indirectly that his car (which you know he has ) is far more expensive than yours.
