What is freehold property?
Hello.
Could someone please elaborate, what is freehold property?
It's from British English.
Does this mean real estate or a piece of land for which one has ownership right?
Or maybe both?
google "what is the meaning of freehold property?"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freehold_(law)
In common law jurisdictions (e.g. England and Wales, United States, Australia, Canada, and Ireland), a freehold is the common ownership of real property, or land, and all immovable structures attached to such land, as opposed to a leasehold, in which the property reverts to the owner of the land after the lease period has expired.

If you own a freehold property than you own the property and the land upon which it is built for an unlimited amount of time.
The alternative is a leasehold property, for example if you buy an apartment you don't own the land upon which it is built and the rest of the apartment block in which it is located. In that case you have to pay a lease every ninety years or so (renewal of leases varies depending on the length of the lease.)
