Hi Stefi I agree with May - it is in 'central London', but it's a big place! The centre of London is surrounded by mainline and other railway stations - if you come from Gatwick airport, you will arrive at Victoria. From Stanstead, you will arrive at Liverpool Street and from Heathrow, you would probably arrive by 'tube', at Paddington. The whole city (north of the river mostly) is covered by the underground train network, so from any of the stations I mentioned you can get to most places in a few minutes. Victoria station is in the south-west corner of what is considered to be the main 'tourist' area, but it really depends where you want to go - it is ideal for Buckingham Palace, or for Harrods, for instance, and only about 20 minutes walk from the station to the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Victoria is also London's main coach station for travel all over the country. There are hotels in almost every street! If you want to know about interesting places to go in London without spending a pile of money, just ask here!

The "City of London" is quite small! When we normally say London, we mean Greater London or Central London, which includes the surrounding cities such as Westminster. Westminster is "SW1" meaning it's the first city southwest of the "City of London". Don't be daunted, the cities are so close you can walk between them. So we just say London. ;) If you love walking around, you'll find it very easy! Just head east to the Thames and follow the river north. Plenty of stuff to see, since London is so condensed. Victoria station is one of the main transport hubs in London; down the road you have the bus station as well, which handles transport to/from the European mainland and to other nearby airports. Inter-city trains coming from the south will all stop at Victoria Station. For Heathrow, you'll have to take the Tube to Green Park and change there. I quite enjoyed zipping around on the Tube, you'll find you can cover a lot of ground whilst touring that way.

Victoria station, also known as London Victoria, is a major central London railway terminus, London Underground and coach station in the City of Westminster. It is the second busiest railway terminus in London (and the UK) after Waterloo. It is in Travelcard Zone 1. It is named after the British monarch Queen Victoria. There are lots of shops and cafes and backpacker hotels around there and if you do a bustour around the area, they usually drop you off there afterwards. About 500m north of Victoria Station is Buckingham Palace and one of London's nicest royal parks, St James Park. You can walk through the park to Westminster where the Houses of Parliament, London Eye and Westminster Abbey are located, as well as Trafalgar Square & London's West End theatre and entertainment district.
