pu tong tiao What does "pu tong" mean? It's got to do with frogs jumping into a pond. Tiao means "jump, hop". But pu tong?

Hello Elena :) "Putong" means precisely 'plop' ,the characteristic sound made by an object dropping into water without a splash. 'A frog plopping into the pond' is a good example of such a sound. P.S It is " 扑通" in Hanzi , while "普通" means common, ordinary .
