is there a possiblity that someone's nickname is longer than his or her real name? Does nick name have to be a short version of name?

The real name of Pablo Picasso is "Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Martir Patricio Ruíz y Picasso". Please remember it at once.

It can be as long or as short as you want. There is an Italki friend who uses "no-sugar" as his nickname - actually I don't know his real name but it could be less number of letters. An 11 year old student in my classroom called me "2 Sausage Joji" cause I had got the same lunch 2 days straight of 2 sausages.... I started calling him "no Homework Jason" because he never does his homework I think both of those are "nicknames" But If the nickname is derived from the real name then it's usually shorter (example Bill or Billy is short for William) (Joe is short for Joseph)

a nickname is often a shortened version of a person's given name.but, sometimes it can be something(name) you classify or distinguish someone with. it can be shorter or longer than the real name, or some letters of a name written differently to form another name. my real name is wafaa, but i have fofa as my nickname
