Hello! I’m Charles Bishop, also known as Colton. I’m from the USA, born in Athens, Georgia, and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I graduated from Carolina University in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry. In February 2022, I moved to Bogotá, Colombia, to teach English professionally after earning a 120-hour TEFL/TESOL/TESL teaching certification from Oxford Seminars. After gaining two years of experience teaching business English in Colombia, I decided to become a freelancer to focus on private students and now have the opportunity to travel to a new country every few months, currently in Barcelona, Spain. I believe that students should learn through engaging, hands-on, communicative lessons. Research shows that experiential learning helps students retain knowledge for longer periods of time and express that knowledge more fluently. This helps them to move beyond their procedural understanding of the content to develop a conceptual understanding as well. I also firmly believe that in today’s society it is imperative that students develop a greater global awareness through their classroom instruction. I've been taking lessons with Colton for a few months now. He is an extremely enthusiastic teacher who loves his job. He has a variety of different pre planned lessons you can do but you can also just talk about whatever you currently find interesting. At the end of each lesson he gives you a summary of the mistakes you did during class and helps you to correct them.

Colton is a very good teacher, he is friendly, optimistic and dynamic. He teaches me a lot of grammar using very good materials on which we can work togheter when we talk and also I can do it by myself after that.

I felt very comfortable in my first trial class with Colton. He is very nice and corrects when needed so I got to learn a few things in my first trial class. He also reinforces you positively. We talked about interesting topics so the time flew by. I look forward to continue learning with him :)
