My name is Jelena Marković Nikolajeva. Since I was a child I was very interested in learning foreign languages, and later I became interested in the grammar of my native language (Serbian). I spent a lot of time preparing myself to study English. Even though I passed the entrance exam for the English language, at the final moment I decided to study Serbian instead. During my college education, I studied French for two years and I became fluent in it at one point. Now I am learning Russian.Ja jako nauczyciel
I have a Bachelor's and two Master's degrees in the Serbian language. My second Master's degree I got from the Center for Serbian as a Foreign Language at the Faculty of Philology. I got the training from Azbukum, where I worked for some time. I also worked for a year at the Institute for Foreign Languages which is one of the first schools for foreign languages in the Balkans. There I got more training and experience with students from all over the world. I also work with United States Air Force students, so I know about ILR scale and DLPT. I have significant experience with Russian, American and Francophone students.Moje lekcje & Styl nauczania
I use all kinds of materials (textbooks, Word documents, pictures, PPT, quizzes and videos). I try to engage my students as much as possible. My goal is that you are able to communicate in Serbian not just to translate from Serbian to your native language and vice versa. I try to provide all the necessary explanations, exercises, and of course, some fun whenever it is possible. My attitude is that you should also learn about Serbian (Balkan) culture and mentality.

Svedočanostvo o pohađanju obuke - Azbukum, Center for Sebian language and culture - 2022I had this training before starting to work in Azbukum. Thanks to it, I had the opportunity to have lectures from very experienced teachers. I had to do all kinds of exercises that would show that I understood the principles of teaching Serbian as a foreign language. I also made my own tasks and materials to get this certificate. I apply what I have learned in my lessons.

I started learning Serbian with Jelena a year ago with zero knowledge, and now I feel confident speaking about almost any topic in the language! Her teaching methods are clear and effective, always helping me work on my weak spots while keeping things interesting. I really appreciate how she’s helping me grow, correcting my mistakes in a way that encourages improvement without ever feeling discouraging.
