Native Japanese Speaker | Focus on Communication & Cultural Immersion This year marks my 4th year teaching Japanese on italki. Many of my students have described me as kind, patient, friendly, and easy to understand. I’m also fortunate to have several long-term students. For beginners, I use English to assist in understanding, but for intermediate and advanced learners, I primarily teach in Japanese, switching to English only when necessary. Having learned multiple languages myself, I understand firsthand the challenges of language acquisition. So don't worry about making mistakes. Let's learn together at your own pace!

I have started teaching as a teaching assistant in Japanese classes when I was going to college. For the last 20 years, I've been helping new employees to get adjusted to their lives in Japan. Teaching basic Japanese was one of the support I was providing. I have helped my friends to pass JLPT. I have also supported foreign tourists as a volunteer guide in Tokyo, Osaka and Hiroshima. Therefore, I am confident that I can support beginner level students well. I love seeing their smiles when they were able to use the language that they learned with locals. That’s the best thing when you are learning a new language. We will talk a lot in my class. That's the best way to gain confidence.

For beginners and intermediates, I usually use the GENKI textbook. For advanced, we can focus on speaking, so we can choose topics for each lesson to discuss. I also love anime. So if you would like to, we can learn Japanese through anime or manga, too. For children, we can learn Japanese in a fun way! We can sing Japanese songs or watch fun short clips to increase your vocabulary! I love teaching Japanese, about Japan, and Japanese culture.
