So, 'embody' can mean 'represent'... or something like 'convey' too: 'The artist's last work embodies her suffering throughout her failed marriage.' Is that correct? Thanks in advance!

Generally, yes. The easiest way to answer this question would be to say that "embody" means "encarnar" in Spanish. I should also add that "embody" is a relatively formal or academic word. It is not a word that most people would use in casual conversation with friends/mates.
