In English presentation class, we discussed why Japan is not allowed to eat or drink in class like American schools. The presenter of the presentation said that the main reason is that it might pollute the classroom. However, in my openion, I thought the issue was deeper than that. I think Japanese schools forbid eating and drinking during class because there is the idea that teachers in Japan must control their students. I believe the school system is based on the military education of the Imperial Japanese Army In the military, you are expected to "endure" everything. Therefore, it is considered disrespectful to eat or drink during class, which is why eating and drinking during class is prohibited in Japan. (This is just my personal opinion.)

I think Japanese schools forbid eating and drinking during class because of the idea that teachers in Japan must control their students. Good work, in Europe (or at least in France) I believe that students are not allowed to eat or drink anything either during classes.
