"Maggot" refers to fly larvae, while worms are an entire class of invertebrates. You generally find maggots on rotting animal corpses or in dirty garbage cans... wherever flies feed. They are absolutely disgusting. Worms can be found everywhere... but most commonly in the ground. They are a little less disgusting.
