Can I say "a variety of people" in English? Why or why not?
I came across an expression "a variety of people" indicating many people in my student's writing. Is it correct? Why or why not?
Yes, usually it implies that it is many different "types" of people -- men, women, rich or poor. It's not only one political group or just men or women when that phrase gets used.

Yes, it's correct. And why do you ask "why"? Which part don't you understand?
