To tease, to mock, to joke What is the difference among these verbs? How and when are they used? Thank you in advance.

To tease is a sort of broad term. You can tease someone you love or you can tease someone you don't like at all. You are generally making fun of them at their expense. You might tease someone because their hair looks funny or because they are too fat. To mock is usually something worse than teasing. When you mock, you are usually making fun of their ideas. You might mock somebody who is religious or mock someone because they think Antarctica is a great place to live. To joke is very non-specific. It doesn't necessarily mean you are making fun of somebody. You can joke WITH someone instead of joking at someone's expense. I hope I explained this well enough. I don't know Italian, so I had to do my best in English.

these are three degrees of rudeness and fun at other expense. Joke- likely some level of rudeness, BUT- the person who is the topic of a joke may not (probably is not) hearing the joke. It he person may be not a real person (but rather a character type- a doctor /lawyer/priest/poor man/rich man/woman....) or may be a well known person such as a politician or celebrity person. Tease- to joke about someones flaw while they are there. A tease may be insulting, yet the person teasing may or may not realize how the teasing is effecting the person. It may be that the teaser (person teasing) thinks that the person being teased understands it as a friendly joke, even though they may be wrong about that. The person may feel mocked. Mock- To insult a person intentionally (with the goal of being nsulting) in a way that points out a specific flaw or unusual facet of a persons character. It may or may not be done in a mimicking way. Of the three, this is the most insulting in my opinion.

To tease, to mock, or to play a joke on someone can all make a person angry. It depends on the person affected and who is doing the teasing or playing the joke. Mocking someone is always done with the purpose of making the other person angry. Teasing is often associated with what boys do to girls they like. Mocking someone is often associated with trying to start a fight with someone. And playing a joke on someone can either be associated with good-natured fun or the complete opposite, bullying.

If someone is teasing you, you can get angry. Sometimes teasing can be a mean thing to do. Sometimes it can be okay. It depends on who is doing the teasing. Does this make more sense?
