stephan - pronounced "ste - fon" stephen - pronounced "ste - ven" steven & stephen are the same name, just different spellings. Kind of like Jon and John or Shawn and Sean

The anachronism of the "ph" or gender models Were Stephen as "Steven" and Stephan as "Stefan" However modern matrix gives esoteric orientations to the weilders of them both as ambiguously pronounceable as They can be contrasted to the grammatic "v" spelling. It depends where the weilder is when an announcer reads their formal. Grammatically "ph" is unvoiced "F" sound.

Stephan is a French variant of the name and is pronounced as Kevin explained

LIsten to my recording of the pronunciation here: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0Q95j3jgajb The first is pronounced steeven with the last 'e' having the schwa sound and the stress on the first syllable. The second is pronounced Ste-farn with a short 'e', the 'r' being silent and the stress on the last syllable.
