What does 'aver' mean?
I see this used sometimes and I can't find what it means.

It means something like 'Let's see' or 'Let me take a look' or even 'Give it here'. For instance, someone has a photo and you might say 'A ver'; that is, 'Let me have a look at it.' It could even mean 'Let me see...' in the sense of 'I am thinking about this...'
