"Chungo" is a multi-purpous slang word with many meanings, actually its meaning is very vague. It comes from "caló" (it's one of the many slang words with a gipsy origin) and it's used in Spain. "Chungo" can mean "bad", "crappy" (poor quality), rotten (as food), "difficult" (as a "chungo" videogame or a "chunga" lesson), you can feel chungo when you're ill (hoy estoy chungo), when a machine is broken it also "está chunga"... When you say that a person "está chunga" you usually mean he or she is ill. When you say that a person "es chunga" you usually mean he or she is someone you wouldn't mess with (someone tough-looking and prone to violence). You usually call those people "un tío chungo" or "un tipo chungo" in Spain.
