What's the difference between social circles and social group?

My social group are the people I socialise with; they are my friends. My social circles are the people that join my social group from time to time, perhaps they are friends of friends, or maybe they go to the same places and we have a conversation.
Generally, your social group would be friends and family, whilst social circles would be everyone else you meet when you socialise.
