Is sorry in Nihongo "sumimasen" or "gomenasai"? I know that gomen, gomene or gomenasai means sorry and sumimasen means excuse me but sometimes when I watch Nihongo films, sumimasen is translated as sorry. why is this so? onegai...I need answers. T_T

coz "sumimasen" means both "excuse me" and "sorry". it's easy huh? :)))
