There is / there are? There is a lot of kids. There are a lot of kids. There is lots of kids. There are lots of kids. Which one is correct? When should I use 'is/are' after 'there'?

Hello, we use is for singular (or uncountable) nouns - kid - There is a kid. We use are for plural nouns - kids - There are a lot of kids / there are lots of kids. I hope this helps, best wishes, Annie

Is/are depends upon whether you're discussing "one" or "many".
