Is this sentence grammatically correct? Hi friends, Is this sentence grammatically correct? (context: this is a finding of an audit which should go to a report). The manner that the allowance has been described in letter of appointment is not in line with the law. Thanks in advance, Niwantha

Hi there, My proposed answer as below: The nature of the allowance as described in the appointment letter is not in line (or consistent) with the law (or regulation). If this is related to accounting policy, regulation may be more appropriate. Cheers Rene

Just one small change is necessary. "the letter", rather than "letter". "The manner that the allowance has been described in the letter of appointment is not in line with the law."

I'd suggest changing "manner" to "way", to avoid the need for an ugly repetition of "in" in the middle of your sentence :)
