The pronunciation of word "laboratory". Will you please tell me how you pronounce the word "laboratory"? I looked it up in the dictionary and got three different pronunciations, so I'm confused.

Personally, I pronounce it: l'-BO-ra-tree. But it is a case of personal preference. If you're used to saying "lab", then you'd say "LAB-ra-TAW-ree". There's no single answer to this. You could compare it to how you pronounce similar patterns like "observatory" and "conservatory" (conserve-a-tree?). This way your style will remain consistent.

When a dictionary says there are three different pronunciations, it is usually correct. In the case of "laboratory", yes, there are multiple pronunciations depending on the form of English being spoken. If this gives you problems, you can always just use the shortened form "lab", for which there is only one pronunciation.

It depends on where you are at. Some would pronounce it "luh-bor-uh-tor-y". I live in the Southern USA so I would say "Lab-ruh-tory". The British pronunciation is slightly different also. Any of these ways you choose to pronounce it will be understood.
