English is one of the most innovative and modern languages in the world. The sheer flexibility for word creation is the reason why so many languages borrow words from us (le parking, das Handy, компютер).

Throughout the history of the English language, from the Old English of 450AD[ archaic] to the Modern English of today, many words have come and gone. It has been estimated that five-sixths of the words recorded in Old English have disappeared. It has also been noted, however, that 90% of the words used on a daily basis are drawn from those that remain.
