My favorite hobby is singing songs. I'm not good at singing, but I really like
singing. I like The Japanese Theatre and The Classical Theatre of China. But pop
songs are more simple, maybe easier to sing. They are not always bad. For example,
I like Yamaguchi Momoe's farewell song "Last Song For You". At age 21, Yamaguchi
retired at the height of her popularity to marry her frequent costar, Tomokazu
Miura; she has never performed or made a public appearance since.
The late
Leslie Cheung also sang that song in Cantonese, but changed the name to The Wind
Blows On.
Yamaguchi Momoe's farewell concert reminds me of the late Canto-pop
diva and actress Anita Mui Yim-fong. "I’m going to leaveーdon’t watch me go" is a
line of Yamaguchi Momoe Lyrics. When I was in college, I read a lot of books
about Anita Mui in the library, one author wrote, "I’m going to leaveーdon’t
watch me go. It's the most Sad and Desolate view."
