School English is different from communication English. Communication English uses simpler, high-frequency words, while school English introduces specialized terms and formal expressions. They are different but can’t be separated as they help each other. So, communication English is the premise for school English, and school English improves communication English, making it more diverse. Here is an example: In communication English, people usually say: “Hey, what’s up? Wanna grab lunch?”, “Gonna go now.” But in school English, sentences are usually used are: “Hello, how are you? Would you like to have lunch together?”, “I am going to leave now.” Learners often find it challenging to move between the casual tone of Communication English and the formal tone of School English.
