It’s a sunny day today. In science class, we delved into the topic of organism classification. Overall, it corrected a long-held misconception I had: mushrooms are not bacteria, but rather belong to the kingdom of fungi, which is a completely different group. The most striking difference is that fungi have a nucleus, unlike bacteria. Back home, I shared this with my dad, who had misguided me in the first place. He was impressed. It turns out he doesn’t even know this kingdoms thing, let alone archaea or protists. It looks like he has a lot to catch up on.
