This trial lesson is meant for all the lessons I'm offering on italki. Just let me know in advance which lesson you want to try so that I can prepare better.

Although the main source of my lesson is "Marugoto", I have given my personal touch and thus created my syllabus which I believe will support Japanese first learners to an easier understanding. 

There is a total of 5 lessons in this package. In "Pack 1", lessons are delivered using alphabet or "romaji". There are no hiragana, or katakana, or kanji. I mean, just not yet. If you don't wish to wait until you get to Pack 2 in order to be able to read and write hiragana, and katakana, you can take my "Dancing with Japanese Syllables" Lesson (to be released soon). 

The difference between a 60-minute class and a 90-minute one is that, in a 90-minute class you will get a Kahoot! game-based exercise, also created by me, not the AI-generated version. You'll get more opportunities to brush up on what you have learned and at the same time have more fun. I will give my feedback on the answers you have given during the game.

Later, beginning from Pack 2, lessons will be written fully in Japanese syllables (hiragana & katakana) and some characters (kanji).

Pack 1 - Basic Japanese (in Alphabet/Romaji) for Beginners Lesson 1 to 5

**This lesson can be delivered in English, Japanese, or Indonesian.

The English exercises will be given in a game format using Kahoot! platform. You will get 20 questions for each lesson. The next time you take this lesson, I will provide you with another set of questions. The more lessons you take, the more opportunity I would have to customize the content based on areas you need more improvement. 

If you feel uncertain, you can sign up for a trial lesson. You will get 5 questions. This trial lesson will allow you to get a picture of what kind of educational game this is.

If you like to read, or like stories, this class is for you. 

READ
Goal: Understand the story
Once I have confirmed your lesson request, I will send you a short story that you can read before class. But, don't worry. In case you can't get the time to read the story before coming to class, I will give you a few minutes to read it in class. At this stage, you are not required to read the story aloud.

ASSESS
Goal: Proof of understanding
Because I can't read minds, I will have to ask you a few questions related to the story to make sure that you understand the story. But, don't worry. I won't make it look like an interrogation. We'll go through the assessment in a fun way. Yay. And, if there are parts that you failed to grasp, here's the time to talk about it.

TELL
Goal: Demonstration of understanding
This will be your chance to tell me, in your own words, about the story. But, don't worry. You won't have to memorize the story. As long as you are not reading word by word, you may tell me the story while viewing the text.

EXERCISE
Goal: Improvement of understanding
At the end of class, I will give you homework for you to submit until our next class. But, don't worry. If you happened to be super busy during the week and thus couldn't complete your homework, you will still be welcome in the next class. 

So, that's my self-invented RATE Method. The last thing you don't need to worry about is the story's level of difficulty. I have a pile of stories varying in all levels of English. Neither will I make you bored, nor will I cause you a headache.

Learning English through Stories

This class might be for you if you are looking to practice your English-speaking skills while receiving feedback, or talk about something while practicing your English.

You are free to propose your preferred format of conversation. You may tell me about something, and I will listen while taking notes. It doesn't need to be a true story. Neither does it need to be grammatically perfect. Alternatively, if you prefer a two-way-communication style, we can do a roleplaying, or discussion. You may also try asking me about something, I tell you, and you practice your listening. 

Whatever conversation format you wish to practice with me, my teaching style is that I refrain from interrupting my student's talking. If it's a roleplay, I will just carry on with my role. As my student talks, I will take notes. Then, after the talk is over, I will give my feedback. Even if you need a bit more extra time to verbalize your thoughts in just one English sentence, I will patiently be on the other side of your computer. I won't make up the sentence for you and then have you repeat after me. At your own pace, complete each sentence yourself, until you get used to it, and eventually consume lesser and lesser time. That's what I call exercise.

Being able to verbalize what you would like to know about is equally as important as being able to verbalize what you would like to tell about. The main point in this lesson is to practice expressing your ideas in English, in a way that can be understood, and to receive detailed feedback from your tutor, which will be me. :)

An Hour in English

This is a continuation of Pack 1.
