This is a conversation lesson, but if you would also like to do some grammar exercises, or practice another skill such as writing an email or reading a short article, please send me a message and I will prepare something for you.

In this class, we can talk about whatever you want. We can have an informal conversation about your interests and general topics, or I can prepare some questions for discussion. I will correct you, help you with pronunciation and teach you new vocabulary/phrases.

This is your time, so I expect you to do most of the talking! :) As a student myself, I understand how difficult it can be to have a conversation in a foreign language, so don't be nervous - I'm here to help you improve your conversational skills.

In this class, we will do grammar and vocabulary building exercises, and we will work on improving your fluency.

I will tailor the class to your needs, and we can focus on the areas in which you want to improve. We will work using exercises and materials from textbooks, authentic materials, and targeted practice to enable you to use the newly acquired grammar and vocabulary in conversation, writing and real life situations.

This class is suitable for both beginners and advanced students.

Grammar and vocabulary

Do you need to prepare for an exam? I can help you!

In this class, we will prepare for the Cambridge FCE, CAE or CPE exams, or the IELTs exam. We will study using materials from exam preparation textbooks, other materials which will help you to learn the grammar and vocabulary that you need, and we can practice doing mock tests.

We will also practice using the language that you learn in these lessons in conversations, or by reading authentic texts. It is important to use the vocabulary and grammar structures that you need to learn for these exams, in order to better understand and remember them.

I have helped a lot of students to prepare for and pass their exams, and I will be very happy to help you too!

Exam preparation FCE/CAE/CPE and IELTS

Do you need to improve your English for your school or university studies? Would you like some help to prepare, research, write and/or edit your thesis or dissertation? Or do you need help to improve your essay writing skills? 

If so, this is the class for you. I specialise in humanities, social studies, psychology, art and history, but if you need help in another academic field, please write to me and we can discuss how I might be able to help you.

This class is for intermediate to advanced students.

Academic writing

In this class, we will read a book, short story or poetry together. We can read the book, story or poem in class and I will correct your pronunciation, or you can read for homework. We will discuss any new vocabulary and phrases, and we can analyse the content and themes of the book, story or poem. I can also set related essay questions if you would like to use our reading material as a source to practice your writing skills.

English literature

This is a course for absolute beginners who are fluent in English, and who would like to gain a firm foundation in German with a teacher who has also studied German as a second language. The course will focus on correct pronunciation (starting with the alphabet), speaking and grammar. By the end of the course, you will be able to have simple conversations, read simple texts, and travel independently as a tourist in German-speaking countries.

This course is also suitable for students who would like to prepare for the exam Start Deutsch 1.

German for beginners / Deutsch für Anfänger

Fun German lessons for absolute beginners! This course is for English-speaking children and teenagers who want to learn German at beginner level. We will learn using pictures, games, and stories, and I will adapt the class to your child's interests.

Letter of recommendation from Spevacek language school as proof of my specialisation in teaching exam-oriented (or test preparation) classes.

To get this certificate, I spent 9 months as a part-time language assistant in a secondary school in Germany, during which time I assisted English teachers with their lessons and taught English classes to children and teenagers aged 10 - 15 years old.

In addition to this certificate, I have a Masters degree in Psychology (already uploaded to my profile), which included studies in child development and educational psychology.
