Heidi
Are these both ok? We took/went on many rides at the amusement park. Thanks

I wouldn't use took in this context. To take a ride implies that you're going somewhere - travelling from one place to another.

Hi Heidi. Yes! We took many rides/we went on many rides

If you want to say ‘take’ you need to say ‘We took a turn on the roller coaster. ‘ not ‘We took the roller coaster.’ Also good: We rode the roller coaster. It’s concise but sounds a tad redundant to say ‘We rode many rides.’ Use ‘went on’ instead

Yes, both "We took many rides" and "We went on many rides" are grammatically correct and commonly used, but there are subtle differences in usage: "We took many rides": This phrase is acceptable and sounds slightly more formal or structured. It emphasizes the action of taking part in the rides. "We went on many rides": This phrase is more casual and commonly used in everyday conversation. It emphasizes the experience of being on the rides. Both are perfectly fine, but "went on many rides" might feel more natural in informal speech.

They are both fine. You can also always use "did". The fact that you refer to them as "rides" proves that "took" is an excellent choice. The words "take" and "ride" are very closely associated in the English language: you TAKE a RIDE. A ride is always something that can be taken. There might be some things at the amusement parks that are not rides, so you cannot "take" them. However, since you used the word "rides" in your sentence, you don't have to worry about that.
