What are your thoughts on the meaning of Kiss From a Rose by Seal?

I was watching a movie the other day and this song played a couple of times. You're probably thinking I'm talking about Batman Forever but the film was actually a comedy called Vacation. Btw. Do you guys use film and movie interchangeably or there are right situations to use each? Anyway.  After watching it, the song obviously got stuck in my head and I decided to listen it again and especially because of what it's sung in the chorus I solved to pay more attention to the lyrics. I for one think the song is a metaphor for a lonely, sad, depressive person in pain with no perspective whatsoever who find in love a reason to live. I've seen a few interpretations suggesting the song is actually about an addicted to cocaine. I'll paste the lyrics down below so you can come to your own conclusion.

There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea.

You became the light on the dark side of me.

Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill.

But did you know,

That when it snows,

My eyes become large and,

The light that you shine can be seen.

Baby,

I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.

Ooh, The more I get of you

The stranger it feels, yeah.

And now that your rose is in bloom,

A light hits the gloom on the gray.

There is so much a man can tell you,

So much he can say.

You remain,

My power, my pleasure, my pain.

Baby, to me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny

Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?

But did you know,

That when it snows,

My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.

Baby,

I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.

Ooh, The more I get of you

The stranger it feels, yeah.

And now that your rose is in bloom,

A light hits the gloom on the gray.

I've been kissed by a rose on the gray,

I've been kissed by a rose (on the gray)

...And if I should fall, it will all go away

I've been kissed by a rose (on the gray)

There is so much a man can tell you,

So much he can say.

You remain

My power, my pleasure, my pain.

To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny

Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?

But did you know,

That when it snows,

My eyes become large and,

the light that you shine can be seen.

Baby,

I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.

Ooh, The more I get of you

The stranger it feels, yeah.

Now that your rose is in bloom,

A light hits the gloom on the gray.

Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.

Ooh, the more I get of you

The stranger it feels, yeah.

Now that your rose is in bloom.

A light hits the gloom on the gray.

Now that your rose is in bloom.

A light hits the gloom on the gray.

@ José.

I live in a country that has severe winters.  Roses don't bloom in the winter, flowers die for that season.  The beauty of coloured flowers is gone.  When it snows his "eyes become wide and the light that you (she) shines can be seen."  Even though snow covers the entire landscape, the reflection of it has its own beauty.  A paradox of the death of the rose and the reflection of death's beauty, white and cold.  Bright sun on pure white snow is so intense that you need to wear sunglasses.  In severe cases it can cause temporary blindness.  What a metaphor!

A graying tower alone on the sea.  Towers are often used as a metaphor for a man.  In this case an isolated (by choice) lonely man.  Love remained the drug that's the high and not the pill.

José... you seem like a romantic!  The song is rich with metaphors and it is beautifully done.  Ah, love... amor...

@Terry May

Ahhh... Canada looks to be a beautiful country with a lot of great landscapes. Here in Brazil we don't have snow. Actually the south of Brazil snows sporadically twice, three times tops a year. But it is so rare to happen that when it does the regular news media around the country broadcast it as an event.

Great song... lyrics almost impossible to interpret (understand)

Here is a reasonable interpretation from a website that I found.
The lyrics will appear first, then the parenthesis will be what the poster had interpreted them as:

There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea.   (I used to be alone.)

You became the light on the dark side of me. (But then, I found you, the better half of me.)

Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill.  (Love found me and made me happy.)

But did you know,  (Did you know,)

That when it snows,  (When you show me your love,)

My eyes become large and (I absorb it and)

The light that you shine can be seen.  (Your love reflects off of me.)

Baby,  (My love,)

I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave.   (You are like a kiss from a rose on the grave.)

The more I get of you,  (The more love you show me,)

The stranger it feels, yeah.  (It gets better.)

And now that your rose is in bloom.  (Now that our love is in full swing.)

A light hits the gloom on the grave.  (Love shines into my soul.)

There is so much a man can tell you,   (There’s so much to tell you,)

So much he can say.    (All about me.)

You remain,    (You are,)

My power, my pleasure, my pain, baby   (Many things to me, my love)

To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny.   (I can’t stop thinking about you.)

Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?  (Is that crazy, my love?)

I've been kissed by a rose on the grave,    (My lonely soul has been shown love,)

...And if I should fall along the way  (…And if I should mess up)

I've been kissed by a rose  (I’ve been kissed by a beautiful girl)...
