「取り替え」は、exchange, 新しいものと替える時などに使われると思われます。giving one thing in return for another.

for example: I bought it yesterday, but it is too small. Would you exchange it for a larger one? 

「変（える」は、replace sth, 替える必要がある、AをBに換える

for example: The old machine need to be replaced.

「交換」と「取り替え」は「同義語」とされています。辞書での「交換」は取りかえること。
