90 day's training: Day 6 Could you please check my sentences? Thanks in advance. 🐰 1) I was reading an English book from the Oxford Reading Tree Stage 11 yesterday. 2) But it was soooo strenuous for me. Because I had to always look up the meaning of my unfamiliar words. It was almost twice or three times in a sentence. 3) Therefore I decided to read 6 books from the Stage 10+ again. It might be helpful to get used to reading English. 4) I used to listen to a German radio which you can listen German pop music and news. But I switched to another channel last week, so that I can listen English pop music with German news. 5) I want to try more something so that my English would be better. If you have some recommendations for me I'll be happy.

90 day's training: Day 6 Could you please check my sentences? Thanks in advance. 🐰 1) I read [1] an English book from the Oxford Reading Tree series yesterday, but[2], it was soooo strenuous for me because [2] I had to always look up the meaning of unfamiliar words. I did this almost twice or three times in each sentence. 3) Therefore I decided to read six [3] books from previous level again. It might be helpful to get used to reading English. 4) I used to listen to a German radio which broadcast German pop music and news, but [2] I switched to another channel last week, so that I could [4] listen to English pop music and German news. 5) I want to try more something so that my English would be better. If you have some recommendations for me I'll be happy.
[1] The continuous form "I was reading" is normally used for an incomplete action which is background to another action. For example, "I was reading when my sister called." [2] "But" and "because" introduce subordinate clauses which need to be connected to a primary clause. Thus, no period. [3] Numbers smaller than 10 are usually spelled as words. [4] Refer to any textbook explanation of reported speech/indirect speech.

90 day's training: Day 6 Could you please check my sentences? Thanks in advance. 🐰 1) I was reading an English book from the Oxford Reading Tree, Stage 11, yesterday. 2) But it was soooo strenuous for me because I had to constantly look up the meaning of unfamiliar words. It happened two or three times per sentence. 3) Therefore I decided to read 6 books from Stage 10+ again. It might be helpful to get used to reading English. 4) I used to listen to a German radio station that features German pop music and news. But, I switched to another one last week that offers English pop music along with German news. 5) I am looking for new creative ways to improve my English. If you could offer me some recommendations, I'll be thankful. The modals "could", "would", and "might" are helpful when you are asking favors: "Could you make some recommendation(s)?" "Might you make some recommendation(s)? "Would you please ...?" "Can", "will", and "may" are grammatically just as good, but do not sound as courteous. my recommendation: read poetry. There are some great poets who use fairly simple language. Start with "Stopping by woods on a snowy evening" by Robert Frost. Listen to recordings of the poem by skilled performers.
