Hi LearningEnglish. How are you? Roofied = past tense verb, corresponding to the noun "roofies" which is a reference to pills, powders, and so forth which serve as "Date--Rape-Drugs". They are usually put into an alcoholic drink, and the drink handed to a girl. When the girl "passes out" or is "knocked out" from the drug effects, some guy can tell others nearby that his "girlfriend" has gotten "drunk" and he is going to help her "home". Subsequently, the person can take the unconscious girl somewhere and rape her. When the girl wakes up, she may have a vague memory of the incident, or remember nothing at all. Sometimes, because the girl might have drank heavily, or because a powerful dose of the drug was administered, the girl dies from the depressant effect upon the brain, heart, and lungs. The 2 drugs most commonly used for "Date Rape Drugs" are two prescription-strength sleep aids. (A) Benzodiazepines (such as Flunitrazepam, also known as Rohypnol or "roofies"). and (B) Gamma-Hydroxybutyric Acid (GHB) So, modern girls know, if they go out drinking, to follow 2 rules steadfastly: #1 Go out with Friends you can trust to get you safely home. If they are also getting drunk, they probably won't be able to help you much. #2 Never take an alcoholic drink that someone "hands" to you as a stranger. If you want a drink, go buy it yourself. Watch as it is poured or opened.

P.S. In the United States, college campuses and their Fraternity Houses and Sorority Houses and their local Bars and other parties where drinking Alcohol is common, are considered "high risk" areas; but then, so is any kind of "party" where alcohol is offered and people are strangers. .
