what's the difference between "to own" and "to owe"? Thank you.

To own means to have something, to be the holder, the possessor of something. Ex: I own a big house in the USA. To owe means to be obligated, bound, in debt. For example I land you some money and then you owe me. Or someone does you a favour and you owe him (not necessarly money)

Please try to get the meaning of the following examples: I owe the rent to the owner of the house where I live. Sadly we do not properly own our body, otherwise life would be infinite, we only have our body on lease, so we owe the rent for it which we eventually pay, in occasional ilness or unhappy times.
