What is a character property? Hello all. I came across this phrase when reading and I'm wondering what it means. Does it refer to a type of house, or does character act as an attributive noun here? Is a character property the same as a unique property? Thanks!

Estate agent speak is often something that needs to be decoded, because what they say and what they actually mean is not always the same thing. It can be the subject of quite a lot of humour. For example: Estate agent speak “Within easy reach of local schools” Translation “Kids will congregate outside your house at lunchtime and drop litter all over your driveway.” This is from this article (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/property/house-prices/10096451/Conveniently-located-above-a-takeaway-how-to-decode-estate-agents-sales-patter.html) This what they say 'character property' really means: Estate Agent Speak “ Character….” Translation “Dilapidated”

A character property is a property/house that has some character about it - this means it has something interesting about it, rather than a typical property. E.g. A house with an interesting fireplace or staircase etc.

A character home is generally a home built in the 1930s and 40's and mimics specific historic architectural styles. It can be the same as a unique property, but it can also be a home located in an area with many other character homes. Please see this article, https://glendalediggs.com/character-homes/ for further clarification
