As was mentioned, 튀다 seems to be the only possibility if the word really starts with 튀. Although it doesn't originally mean awesome or excellent, some people might use it to mean that, as it is a popular slang for "being different from the rest", which can easily feel "awesome" to some. Another possibility is 뛰어나다, although it starts with 뛰 instead of 튀. It is a common word meaning "awesome" or "remarkable", coming from 뛰다(jump) + 나다(come out). Also, if you know the first character, you can look up all the possible words starting with it at dic.naver.com, for example. You can do it by going there and 1) look up some word, like 튀다, by typing it in the main word entry box, and then click on "튀다" again if it shows multiple word choices on the next page in blue; 2) in the entry box on the returned page (should say either 국어사전 or "English Dictionary" on the left) you type the first character "튀". Then it will show all major words starting with 튀 in a dropdown window. You can explore more by adding ㄱ, ㄷ, or whatever consonant to see more obscure words starting with 튀ㄱ.., 튀ㄷ.., etc. In the case of 튀, it shows about 10 possibilities, which is 튀다, 튀기다(fry), and a few words derived from these two, plus some foreign names like 튀니지, etc. So I'd say there really isn't much chance that you saw something starting with 튀 other than 튀다.
