Actually Salma, the key word in Palestinian/ Jordanian accent when ordering food is "بدِّي" which means "I want" or "would like to have" in this regard, whether you want to order something to eat or drink. Regarding the side dish, we call it "طلب جانبي" literally, whether we are ordering on the phone or in the actual restaurant :) Let's say you want to have some grilled chicken with salad, and mashed potato and gravy as a side dish, and you want to have pomegranate juice, it goes this way: بدّي وجبة جاج مشوي مع سلطة، وطلب جانبي: بطاطا مهروسة مع صلصة. And when asked "what would you like to drink? شو بتحبي تشربي؟" You can say: بدّي عصير رمان. There is no standard way, it really depends on the way you like to order your food, but in general this is the way we order our food here. If you would like a sealed bottle of water for example, you can ask the waiter/ waitress like this: ممكن لو سمحت بدّي علبة مي مسكّرة؟ If they forgot the knife for example, you could ask the waiter for one like this: ممكن بدّي سكينة Or ممكن بدّي سكينة لو سمحت/ لو سمحت بدّي سكينة Adding لو سمحت gives the feeling you are asking politely, it means something like "if you please" and it's widely used here. Can I get.....( بدي , ممكن اخد؟ ) suggestion : جيبلي او هاتلي For my side dish, I would like to have...(جنب الاكل بدي اخد ) suggestion : هاتلي جنب الاكل , جيبلي جنب الوجبه For drink, I would like.....
