What time (s) of day do you prefer to take lessons? This is a question, really, for all students on italki that take any form of language lesson. And this applies to lessons on this platform, other on-line lessons or lessons that you take face-to-face with a teacher. Do any of you like to take lessons before you go to your work, school, college or university? For those of you that are not working or attending school, college or university, do you take lessons during the day in your time zone? For those taking lessons in the evening, do you tend to prefer early evenings or late evenings? How many of you prefer to take lessons at the weekend? Some of you have probably tried taking lessons at different times of the day. Have any of you noticed that you seem to learn better at a certain time of the day? Why do you think this might be?

I'm not a student (although I have been before), but as I tutor elsewhere who has had about 3000 online lessons and over 100 students, I can perhaps speak for them or at least my regulars. First I should say that I'm also in the UK and make myself available more or less every day between 7:30am to 10:00pm. People more commonly study during the week. They like to have their weekends off if possible (weekends can be Friday and Saturday in some places). For example, one student in Miami has a lesson at 6:40am before work (evenings not possible because of time difference) every weekday rather than at the weekend. Evening times are the most requested, generally around 6-10pm (their time) but some are happy to wait until 11 or 12 if necessary. I can't say much about people at uni (I only teach adults). For people who have taken lessons at different times, they normally say they feel they can concentrate more later in the day, as long as they are not too tired. Of course it all depends on both people's availibility.

I learn best during the day, assuming I have time properly set aside (which is very rare as I'm so busy). I have free time in the evening but I'm often too tired to learn properly. It's actually a bit difficult eh?
